Donna Stuart @BCS

Lately myself along with trey roth have been working on a record for Donna Stuart. Her and her husband are from houston texas and lead a bible study at Texas A&M called Breakaway. She has written some great songs. Her record will fall under a very rootsy americana vibe. I'm playing some mandolin and banjo on it. I'm very excited about this record. I grew up playing bluegrass and so its my hart to create music that stirs the soul with banjo's and mandolins. It's in my blood. Here's some session pics and i will keep you posted when this record is complete with details on how to get it.

chrystina fincher new EP

Coming at you early july is an EP that i am so excited about. i approached Chrystina about recording some tunes and after talking we both realized we felt we should go a different route with the tunes we wrote and recorded. so the EP is from the heart with plenty of roots and vibe. so we took about 4 days and cranked this EP out. i played bass, mandolin, guitars and piano. brandon coker lit up the drum kit and chrys and i handled all the vocals. we even have a duet on there that i'm super excited about. i know that sounds quick but its not when ya know what your going for. her tunes are solid. and i'm so glad she choose me to put vision in a recording. the next post will have a link to this EP when it comes out.

john waller sessions

So last week at BCS i started a new record for John Waller. John and i were in a band together for years. He has gone on to make a few solo records since including having a hit song in the movie Fire Proof. No he didnt get to meet kirk cameron ladies. But we have began recording ten new songs that God has given John to write. When John called me about the record i of course was very excited to hear the songs. I feel like John i s avery gifted song writer. So i went to his house and we had some lunch at Red Neck Cafe in senoia. So i fit in there really well. We get back from lunch, He plays the demos he has made and right away i'm like let's get in the studio and lay these down. So i really felt strongly about getting my boys Matt Adkins, Heath Balltzglier, Joe Lee and Wayne Viar in the play on the record and craft these songs with me. Their contributions are priceless. From their parts they played to the laughs that we had. We also have Steve Fee doing the keys and blips and noises on the project. He has been adding noises and cool sounds no one can identify on the records i produce for a while now. So we are working hard and with a great expectancy that God is going to expand these songs and this record beyond our control. Pray with us and continue to life us up a we finish this record. i will keep you guys posted when the record comes out.

so all us boys got together and made a record for casey darnell. by us boys i mean myself, heath balltzglier and steve fee. add jacob arnold on drum and ya got it. casey is a great friend of mine. has been leading at North Point Community Church and at Big Stuff camps. his record drops on itunes this tuesday. i am really excited about this project. the songs are very strong and his vocals are stunning. great singer. so be sure to pic it up on tuesday. send this thing thru the roof on itunes, thx friends.

i've been at orange conference all week and man its been so cool to see God move and do His thing. the worship set's have been electric. filled with the Holy Spirit. lots of people really seeking after God. fee was here with seth condrey, unhindered, sammy ward an the house band which consist of scott meeder, pat malone, hoard, randy harper, steve thomason, chrystina fincher, candi pearson, danny stevens, tan tan, ryan stuart, rudy vaughn, sam tesh an jeff scott. and maybe more. so many to remember. its a big band. but thx to all the orange staff for having me this year. its been a real blessing. missing my family tho and ready to see them tomorrow night

Lately Black Cat Studio has been a host to Emily Hearn. she is a local griffin artist. currently in athens doing the school thing. but her passion is music. she writes and records her own stuff. i co produced this record with trey roth. i was at a restaurant with my family one night and the girl behind the counter said ya gotta hear this friend of mine. she is sooooo great . and i'm like ok. i'm up for it. so she said emily hearn, you tube her. so kacie, my wife and i come home and fire the apple tv up and search for emily and there she was and we both were like wow, she has IT. well here we are months later. and she has an EP that releases in May. details coming about that. i will be playing with her and would love you see U there. we are also doing a Sony Music showcase in athens in may. you guys should really check her music out. more details about how to get the EP coming soon.

Today here at Black Cat Studios i am finishing up a record that i co produced with Mac Powell, of Third Day. we have almost finished. putting the final electric guitars and background vocals on the tunes now. sounding great. the artist is a great friend of mine Trevor Morgan. he has toured many years with Natalie Grant as her guitar player. i have had the pleasure of ouring with him on the latest Glory Revealed record. The Museum

as some of you know i've been in the studio with BEC recording artist The Museum. i was lucky to get to do 5 tunes on the record. the museum is headed up by lead singer and songwritter ben richter, my good buddy of course. and he has a great band of guy around him that rule the school. josh kirk on drums, chris brink on bass and geoff ashcraft on the electric. together they have a cool chemistry. thier single on the radio now is called, my help comes from the lord. its climbing up the charts and doing great. here's a few pics from the session. when the record is up for release i will get ya the date and you must go out and get it.

test 1 2 3. test. blog check 1 2. alright seems to be working. well its hoard here to welcome you to my blog and let ya know whats been a goin down at black cat studios this month. i have been hosting Elevation Church from Charlotte NC. we have been tracking and are about half way thru the recording. we have 13 great tunes that i'm just loving. we had Steve Fee of the fee band in today to write on a tune and do some programming. for those of you who dont know what programming is its all the noises ya hear on a david crowder record and say, now what the heck is that???? thats what it is. on the record we had pat malone on bass, jacob arnold on drums and myself on guitar. lots of fun. there are 4 worship leaders at the church. the head honcho is Wade Joye followed by Chris Brown, Mack Brock, and Londan Gatch. so i will keep ya posted as we go along and i will get you a release date for the record. it will be a must have i promise. here's some pics from the session.
